Biden Undoing what Trump has Done with Russia
Russia and the United States have been an item for quite a while. They are the key characters in the very heart of the Cold War tale. However, things surprising took a new turn when Donald Trump got into power. He became close buddies with President Putin and drew opposing remarks especially from the Democratic Party quarters.
Some allegations included the fact that Russia interfered with the election that brought Donald Trump into power.
Well, things are returning to the way they were before Trump. This is even though it is barely 3 weeks after Joe Biden ascended the Oval Office.
Joe Biden Settling Russia Straight
President Joe Biden has not hidden his displeasure over many of the policies that were implemented under the Donald Trump administration. This is judging by how he was quick to relax many harsh immigration policies that were instituted by the ex-president.
This time around, he has called the attention of Mr. Putin – the Russian President to how the United States foreign policy which includes the diplomatic relationship with them is having a new twist. The United States president explained that he brought up various issues of concern which included election interference as was feared by many Americans when Trump initially assumed office; unsolicited support to terrorist groups, and many more.
Joe Biden while addressing the state department inferred that it was the dawn of a new era in America’s history, because “Diplomacy is back”.
He explained what transpired during conversations with the Russian counterpart when he stated that he “made it clear to President Putin in a manner very different from my predecessor, that the days the United States rolling over in the face of Russia's aggressive actions, interfering with our elections, cyber-attacks, poisoning citizens are over”.
What Does This Mean for Russia?
Unlike what Russia experienced during the Trump administration, the United States will be very particular about its interest and may take certain measures Russia may be opposed to.
While President Joe Biden raised other subjects during the discussion, this was the major interest for many.
